How the"SeniorMedicalAlert" Unit Works:
No Contract - No Monthly Fee ... works anywhere there is a phone line.
Unlike competing medical alert device products, because you're not subscribing to a monitoring service,
you pay ONLY a one-time purchase fee with the "Senior Medical Alert System". No Monthly Fees. Ever again!
During system setup, simply:
- connect "Senior Medical Alert System" to a telephone jack,
- record an outgoing message, - program the emergency telephone numbers, and test it.
That's pretty much all there is to it.
Then, in the event that you've fallen and can't get up or have a medical emergency in which you cannot reach the telephone to call for help, simply press the panic button.
The response system will then begin calling the emergency telephone numbers that you've programmed into it during the setup process
- local numbers, long distance numbers, even 911 if needed.
"Senior Medical Alert System" runs off of regular house power and uses a 9-volt battery as a backup in case of a power failure.
To illustrate exactly how the system works, let's take an example from
the perspective of the "Senior Medical Alert System" owner. Let's assume that
you own a "Senior Medical Alert System" and you live alone. Let's assume that you've
programmed the following four emergency numbers into your system to
call once you press the panic button in the event of a medical emergency:
1) Your Son
2) Your Daughter
3) Your Next-Door Neighbor
4) 911
Now, we'll assume that you've fallen and can't get up while in the shower.
You press the "Emergency Call" alert button on the provided pendant.
The pendant, using the latest in wireless computer technology, signals the Console,
which (we'll assume) has been installed in the kitchen.
The Console sounds the 65 decibel alarm within your home, and it then begins its calling sequence.
In our example, based on the call order you've set up, the "Senior Medical Alert System" will call your Son first.
If there's no answer, the "Senior Medical Alert System" will automatically move to the second number - your Daughter.
Then, if needed, your next door neighbor, the third number.
If there's still no answer, the "Senior Medical Alert System" calls your fourth number - 911 emergency services.
The people on your emergency call list can be right next door, across town, or even across the country.
"Senior Medical Alert System" can call local or long distance numbers.
If the call is handled by, let's say, your son across the country, he can contact local help or, if need be, he can call his local 911 and have the call dispatched to your local 911.
Let's go through an actual call process.
Let's assume your son (first on the list) answers the call for help.
He will hear the Console playing your pre-recorded outgoing message - something like:
"Louise Smith at Something Lane 12 has had an emergency and needs help. Please press 0 NOW to listen in".
Your son presses "0". This silences the "Senior Medical Alert System" siren within your home and activates the high-powered microphone on the Console.
You can then describe the problem and your son can hear you (it's a ONE-WAY speaker phone). He can then hang up and place a confirmation call back to you.
You will be assured that help is on the way, because you will hear him over your answering machine saying something like
"Mom, I received your call for help. I'm on my way. I'll be there in 10 minutes".
As noted above, your son can alternatively alert the authorities, like ambulance, fire, your caregiver, 911, etc.
Help will be quickly on its way.
Pressing the panic button triggers the Console to instantly call up to four people that you've programmed during setup to summon help.
The person called can listen in directly to determine the nature of the medical problem.
Within seconds of the emergency call process, the call will be answered and help will quickly be on its way!
The medical alert pendant is water-resistant so it can be worn in the shower or bath tub.
Notifying family and friends rather than an impersonal monitoring
station in the event of an emergency...
...that's the essence of the "Senior Medical Alert System". Why? Because, with a corporate
monitoring service like one that virtually all the other companies offer, studies
have shown that people may feel inhibited about activating the system, not
wanting to "bother" the monitoring service personnel for what is believed to
be a minor problem. Yet, an incorrect assessment about the seriousness of the
problem has been found to cost lives. With "Senior Medical Alert System", your family and
friends (and, optionally 911) are your monitoring service. Inhibitions about
pressing the panic button are gone, lives are saved, and senior safety is assured.
We are quickly converting previous monthly-fee customers over to our system not
only because of the fact that there are no fees, but also because the user feels
more comfortable knowing that the call (which can at times be a very private
situation) will go to people that know them, love them, and care for them,
instead of "big brother".
The "Senior Medical Alert System" is highly-recommended
by visiting healthcare facilities, nurse associations, senior
resources professionals, and senior services organizations for
help from senior falls.
Please consider giving us a try. We are confident that you'll be glad you did.
